While September brought a number of interesting movies to the theatres notably “The Magnificent Seven” which was a huge success at the box office. October, promises to up the ante as several horror movies will be vying for the attention of Halloween fans. Big stars like Tom Cruise, Tyler Perry and Tom hanks are back to the big screen while actors like Ewan McCregor and Nate Parker make their debut as directors. There will also be a lot of reboots of original classic novels this month Here are 10 movies you’ve got to see in October.
• THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN
This is certainly going to be one of the biggest movies in 2016. Emily Blunt stars as Rachel in this mystery drama thriller based on the best-selling book written by Paula Hawkins. The movie is directed by Tate Taylor notable for his works in [The Help, Get on Up]. Fans of the book will be gearing to see the characters come to life on the big screen. Rumour has it that this will be Emily Blunt’s biggest role till date and she is joined by some mega stars like Luke Evans, Hayley Bennett, Justin Theroux, Rebecca Ferguson and Lisa Kudrow. The movie is set to be released on October 7th 2016.
• THE BIRTH OF A NATION
This one’s certainly gonna be a thriller this month. The film is co-written, produced and directed by actor Nate Parker in his first film as a director. He also stars in it. It is a period drama film based on the story of Nat Turner, the enslaved man who led a slave rebellion in Southampton County, Virginia in 1831. The film stars Nate Parker as the lead character, Armie Hammer(The Man from Uncle), Aja Naomi King(How To get Away with Murder), Gabrielle Union(Being Mary Jane) and Jackie Earle Haley(Preacher). The film is scheduled to be released on October 7th 2016.
• JACK REACHER: NEVER GO BACK
Legendary actor Tom Cruise returns to action as a military vet in the “Jack Reacher” set four years since the events of the first film. Jack Reacher returns to the headquarters of his old military unit as he is falsely accused of a homicide. It is directed by Edward Zick and produced by Tom Cruise. Based on the book “Never Go Back” by Lee Child. It stars Tom Cruise and Cobie Smulders (How I met your Mother). The film is set to be released on October 21st 2016.
• KEEPING UP WITH THE JONESES
It is an upcoming 2016 American action comedy film directed by Greg Mottola. The film stars comedy king, Zach Galifianakis and Isla Fisher ( Now You See Me) as a suburban couple who become involved with an international spy plot when they discover that the Joneses, their neighbours are government agents played by Jon Hamm(Mad Men) and Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman). The film is set to be released on October 21st 2016.
• BOO! A MADEA HALLOWEEN:
Tyler Perry returns with this Halloween comedy. This is another instalment in the Madea franchise. Madea fans are sure to have a lot of laughs while watching this movie as Madea chases ghosts, ghouls and zombies while keeping a watchful eye on a group of mischievous teens at a halloween party. It stars Tyler Perry, Bella Thorne Cassi Davis amongst others. It is scheduled to be released on October 21st 2016.
• OUIJA: ORIGIN OF EVIL
Horror movie fans are definitely not going to be disappointed with this supernatural horror film. It is the second instalment of the Ouija franchise. The movie is directed by Mike Flanagan known for his works in [Hush, Oculus]. Top guns like Elizabeth Reaser, Annalise Basso, Lulu Wilson and Henry Thomas also starred. It is to be released on October 21st 2016.
• INFERNO
It is a 2016 American mystery thriller directed by Hollywood star Ron Howard based on the novel by Dan Brown. The film is the sequel to the blockbuster movies “The DaVinci Code” and “Angels and Demons” and stars legendary actor Tom Hanks as he reprises his role as Robert Langdon alongside Felicity Jones(Theory of Everything), Omar Sy, Ben Foster and Irrfan Khan. It is scheduled to be released on October 28th 2016.
AMERICAN PASTORAL
Hollywood actor Ewan McCregor makes his debut behind the scenes in this American crime drama based on the novel of the same name by Philip Roth. The film stars Ewan McCregor, former child star Dakota Fanning, Jennifer Connelly, Rupert Evans and Valerie Curry. The film is set to be released in October 21st 2016.
• THE ACCOUNTANT
Ben Affleck stars as a forensic accountant for dangerous criminal organizations in this action packed film directed by Gavin o’Connor. Fans of Ben Affleck and Anna Kendrick are certainly going to be pleased. The movie stars an ensemble cast of Ben Affleck(Gone Girl), Anna Kendrick(Pitch Perfect), J.K Simmons(Whiplash) and Jon Bernthal(Sicario). It is to be released on October 14th 2016.
• MAX STEEL
Superhero lovers are definitely going to be calling for this scifi action film directed by Stewart Hendler and stars Ben Winchell, Ana Villafane, Andy Garcia, Maria Bello and Andy Slaughter. The film shows the adventures of teenager Max McCrath and his alien companion, Steel. It is set to be released on October 14th 2016.
