SHOULD NIGERIA ADOPT A TWO PARTY SYSTEM?

Today on hot topic, we’ll be sharing our suggestions on whether Nigeria should adopt a two party system or not? Now the reason why I brought up this debatable topic was because of the recent happenings in the country. For sometime now, we’ve had just two parties running the show in the Nigerian political sector. Nigeria operates a multi-party system whereby we have over 50 political parties in the country yet just two of all these parties run the game. The two parties occupy virtually all the political offices even down to the local government in Nigeria. To be a strong contender at any level, you must belong to either the PDP or the APC. With the elections around the corner, so many candidates from other parties have moved to either the PDP or APC just to gain grounds at the polls. Now my question is, why have over 50 parties and just 2 are functional? Do you think other parties should merge up with these two parties and just let two candidates go head-to-head?
