TOP TEN (10) MOVIES YOU MUST SEE IN SEPTEMBER


This summer certainly pleased the fans as DC released blockbuster “Suicide Squad” which amassed over $500million in the U.S box office. Well, if you think you’ve seen enough of Hollywood, think again cause September will knock you off your feet. Some of the world’s biggest directors and actors will be telling amazing stories this month. Two-time Oscar winner Clint Eastwood is behind the cameras again while hit maker Antoine Fuqua [Training Day, The Equalizer] will be filming as well.

Top film-makers like Oliver Stone, Adam Wingard and Jared Hess will also be behind the cameras. We’ll also be seeing the return of legends in the movie industry like Eddie Murphy, Denzel Washington, Tom Hanks and Jean-Claude Van Damme. This month surely promises to be a banger. Here’s a list of the movies you MUST see this september;

  1. THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN

Popular film-maker/director Antoine Fuqua known for his deeds with “Training Day” and Denzel’s “The Equalizer” once again will be on set with A-list actor Denzel Washington in “The Magnificent Seven”. The film tells the story of a team of outlaws enlisted to protect a small town in what would be a revised version of the 1960 Western as well as Akira Kurusawa’s “Severn Samurai”. Denzel, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke and other cowboys will be featuring on this high-profile movie. Release date for the movie is September 23rd.

  1. MASTERMINDS

After his success in “Napoleon Dynamite”, film director Jared Hess will be behind the screens in this long-awaited heist comedy “Masterminds”. Zach Galifianakis, Owen Wilson, Kristen Wiig, Jason Sudeikis, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones will all be starring this amazing film. The film is based on a true life story centered on one of U.S biggest bank robbery in North Carolina back in the 90’s. It reveals the conspiracy behind the Loomis Fargo bank robbery in 1997 when over $17million was nicked. Release date for the movie is September 30th.

  1. BLAIR WITCH

There has been a lot buzz about this film as film director Adam Wingard seeks to revitalize the franchise. The popular director who filmed “The Guest” and “You’re Next” tells the story of a group of campers who are sent back into Maryland’s Black Hills woods to find the still-missing heroine in a follow-up on 1999’s original horror movie. Fans will certainly be waiting to see what Wingard has got on this one. For all you horror fans, you’ve gotta see this movie. Release date is September 16th.

  1. AMERICAN HONEY

This highly-profiled film could be major this year. “American Honey” could be replacing DC’s “Suicide Squad” at the end of the year cause it may be all we could be talking about this month. The movie is doing so well in the U.S box office. Andrea Arnold [Fish Tank] is certainly the man with the “magic touch” on this one. The film maker could be directing in what would be an Oscar winning film. Sasha Lane stars as a teenager who joins a group of traveling magazine sellers [Also Shia Lebeouf] as they travel towns caught up in the whirlwind and adventures of the country’s heartland. The British-American movie bagged up the Jury’s prize at the Canne’s Film Festival earlier this year and has been nominated for other notable awards already. Film is set to be released September 30th.

  1. KICKBOXER: VENGEANCE

Fans have been waiting for the release date of this film for a while now. Kickboxer: Vengeance stars the come-back of Jean-Claude Van Damme as he trains young Alain Moussi to avenge his brother who was killed by the brute Dave Batista to become the Thai kickboxing champion. John Stockwell is behind the scenes in what would be a reborn of the 90’s classic. The film is currently ranked No. 7 on itunes chart and promises to be a banger. The film was released on September the 2nd and has been getting mad reviews since then. The movies is now in theatres.

  1. SULLY

Another award could be knocking on the door for Clint Eastwood [Million Dollar Baby, Unforgiven] as he steps behind the cameras again in this award acclaimed film “Sully” even as he works together with A-list actor Tom Hanks. Eastwood tells the story of the 2009 airline crash which saw Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger crash-land an airline into the Hudson River with 155 passengers on board. The film reveals the investigations behind the incident and the aftermath on Sully’s career. The movie also stars supporting casts like Aaron Eckhart and Laura Linney. The movie is set to be released on September 9th.

  1. MR. CHURCH

Everyone knows what happens when Eddie Murphy is on set. You sure gonna see some mad comedy but not this time. The legendary actor shows his fans a side of him we’ve never seen before. Murphy will be starring alongside the beautiful Britt Roberts and Lucy Fry. Bruce Bereford [Director] and Susan McMartin [Writer] tells the story of a unique friendship that develops when a little girl and her dying mother retain the services of a talented cook Henry Joseph Church [Eddie Murphy]. What begins as a six month arrangement instead spans fifteen years, and creates a family bond that lasts forever. The film is budgeted $8million in the U.S box office and fans are gearing for this one. The film is set to be released on September 16th.

  1. SNOWDEN

Highly controversial film-maker Oliver Stone [Wall Street, JFK, Savages] is set to release yet another controversial film “Snowden”. The film is sure gonna create a bit of a political uproar as Stones tells the story of Edward Snowden, an I.T professional who leaked a highly classified information of the NSA in 2013. Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays the role of Snowden in this high-profiled movie. This fall promises to be rocked with big bangers. The film is set to be released on September 16th.

  1. MY BLIND BROTHER

This fall sure does have a lot comedy to enjoy and relax at the theatres. “My Blind Brother” gives you that and even more in this cute comedy drama. Nick Kroll competes with his excessively capable blind brother Adam Scott who, beneath his superstar exterior, is a jerk to woo a woman Jenny Slate in this amazing comedy from director Sophie Goodhart. The film is set to be released on September 23rd.

  1. DEEPWATER HORIZON

Mark Wahlberg [Lone Survivor, Ted] and director Peter Berg (the other being December’s Patriot’s Day , about the Boston Marathon bombing), combine for this amazing film co-starring Kurt Russell, John Malkovich, and Kate Hudson. Berg tells the story of the events that men and women were forced to battle with during the 2010 oil-rig explosion that resulted in the worst spill in U.S. history. Peter Berg has has always been known for his top-notch film-making in the industry and this one will be no different. Release date is September 30th.
