Sometimes I ask what’s the difference between a boy and a man? Why do we have to address them by different names when both of them have the same features? Now this was what I came to find out. Sometimes we think that a man have come to know all things a boy doesn’t. Sometimes we think it’s because he’s grown in height. Sometimes we think it’s because he’s grown in age and size. The truth is there is no difference between a boy and a man only the stage. Now I’ll tell you something in a bit. A boy will only be worried about the things that concerns him at that time so it is with a man. A boy might be worried he didn’t do well in school this session and that becomes a burden. A man on the other hand, becomes worried about his job and his family’s daunting needs but both of them are worried about something. Growth is ever continual in life for any human. Why call a man a MAN when he plays football and still can’t handle a relationship like a boy? It tells you one thing, even as a man you’re still growing as a boy cause you never get to master every stage in life.
A boy calls a woman ‘My mum’ while a man calls the same woman ‘My wife’ but it’s the same woman. So what’s the difference? The stage. Now some say you call a man a MAN because of his maturity level. Question is what maturity level does a boy has? To many, a man is mature because he’s come of age and so automatically he’s mature and the boy is not because he hasn’t come of age. Question is what is maturity? Maturity is not ageing but the extent to which a man have come to know in life. Maturity is a function of the knowledge acquired from every area of life. Maturity is in the mind not the age. So it means what a man knows is to the extent to which he has come in life. That’s his maturity level. But for a boy, the extent to which he has grown to know becomes his maturity level. But both of them are matured to a level and that maturity is ever continuous.
Let’s take a look at something here in a bit. Now you imagine why a man at 40 still carries the tag ‘The Young Shall Grow’? It’s because learning is continuous and you keep growing until you die. So what’s the difference between a boy and a man if both of them are still growing? The stage. Now you tell a boy ‘You can’t handle a relationship now because you’re too small.’ Now you also tell a man ‘You can’t handle a relationship now because you don’t have the money and time to keep one now.’
Now notice both of them can’t handle a relationship but for different reasons. It tells you one thing, until the required is acquired nothing is achieved. It tells you one thing, if a boy knew as much as that man he would function as a man. Also, if that man never came to know as much as he is supposed to, he functions as a boy. So you only place both of them based on what they’ve been exposed to. Quote me today, ‘Life is progression. A man that stops to learn stops to live.’ There is never a satiation point for growth in life because growth is a proof of life. We can always be better. This is Danny world…
